It's coming up to launch time...

So, it's official, the new Speed Triple 1200RR will be launched on the 14th September at 12:00 UK time. Triumph have posted another video with more of a peek at the forthcoming model. September is the start of the run up to the various shows (EICMA and NEC) where new models are usually shown in public for the first time.

The Speed Triple 1200RR is guaranteed to be a premium model with carbon fibre bits and updated electronics. It is probably going to be a premium price also but we think enough people will buy one. We'll certainly be trying to get an invite to the review party... but don't hold your breath.

As well as the RR there is the new Tiger 1200 model range. The big news there is that Triumph have managed to make it lighter - it probably also uses the 1200cc Speed Triple engine, though with a different tune. Expect GT/Pro and Rally/Pro versions to suit on and off road biases.

Then of course there's the Tiger Sport 660. Things are getting busy in Triumph land and it is looking good so far.
