The Adventurer was born out of a combination of a frame used on BSAs and Triumphs several years previous and the engine from the Trophy 500 (T100C), and a desire to have an off-road styled machine.
It sported chrome mudguards, the front one mounted on the bottom yoke to reduce the unsprung weight and to give a typical off-road look to the front end. Instruments were sourced from Nippon Denso and included a speedometer and a rev counter. The lights were Lucas items, the headlight being a 6inch unit with a Lucas three-position switch mounted on the top. Handlebar controls for the lights and horn were sourced from Yamaha - though all traces of the name were removed. The exhaust was a departure from the upswept style and ran behind the bash plate into a black (somewhat ugly) pressed-steel silencer just under the engine.
The bike was given the Trophy Trail name, painted in gold on the side panel, for the 1973 model. In 1974 this was changed to the Adventurer. It was favourably received but production was limited.
