The Surrey Branch is a part of the Triumph Owners' Motor Cycle Club (TOMCC). It meets every Thursday from about 8:30pm, rain or shine, at the King William IV in West Horsley.
The Branch itself was formed in 1993 mainly by the efforts of Brian Tillin (the Branch's first Chairman), and since then has carved out a strong reputation for itself going from strength to strength.
From its humble beginnings the Branch has attracted a membership of over 140 members, with regular club night turn outs of around 20 people. In 1995 the Branch won the Club's THAT Trophy for the biggest increase in membership of any other branch that year.
We continue to strive to be a friendly, open, and approachable Branch - always welcoming new ideas and input from our members.
We regularly put on displays at many local shows. In past years these have included a strong annual presence at the Surrey Lions Show in Leatherhead and the Loseley Park Country Fair, until moving our main annual rally to the Rudgwick Steam and Country Fair in 2000.
One of the main aims of the Branch since its inception has been to support local childrens' charities and up until 2002 we held a 'Toy Run' each Christmas, traveling to a local childrens' hospital or hospice. Since then we have changed things slightly and have adopted a local charity called 'The Little Group', which is based in Epsom, and have moved our Charity Run to the summer. Proceeds from our regalia sales and collections throughout the year will be presented to the charity on the day of the Run. We intend to support this group for the next few years as they provide essential care for Autistic children from the ages of 2 to 5, and also provide support for their families.
As a Branch we have a reputation for being rather active (even after a few pints) and get involved in many biking events. A favorite has always been the British and Classic Isle of Wight Rally which celebrated its own 10th Anniversary in 2001. We have always had a good presence at this event and every year something major seems to happen! To find out more about these stories you'll have to come down to a Branch night as they can't possibly be put up on the Internet!
The running of the club has changed over the years but each committee member past and present has always had the same ideal - 'lets have fun.' After all, that is what it is all about!
We hope to see you at a Branch night in the not to distant future.
